Our club raises funds to support the mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern, NC. We conduct fundraisers throughout the year and volunteer our time and talents.
College Scholarships for students at UNCW and CFCC
The Kiwanis Club of Wilmington funds scholarships at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College.
The club awards three Kiwanis Memorial scholarships to students graduating from New Hanover County High Schools who have been accepted to UNCW. The recipient of the scholarship is awarded $2,600 per year for four years. In addition, one-year $1,600 scholarships are awarded to two runner-ups.
The club funds four $1,000 scholarships annually for students of at Cape Fear Community College. Scholarship recipients are selected by CFCC. Recipients and college representatives are invited to a Kiwanis meeting where the scholarships are presented.
Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard Service Project
Each month our club members donate approximately 200 boxes of cereal to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard In addition, members volunteer to package food items for distribution to MHC clients.
Kiwanis Miracle Playground at Olson Park
Our club raised over $100,000 and partnered with the City of Wilmington to build an all-inclusive playground adjacent to the the Miracle Field at Olson Park. This playground is specially designed to allow children of all abilities to experience the joy of play.
Cribs For Kids Service Project
We donate pack-and-play cribs to the NHC Department of Health and Social Services and the Boys and Girls Home of NC to provide newborns with a safe sleeping environment.
Service Leadership Program – Key Club
Our Kiwanis club is the sponsor of the Ashley High School Key Club. Key Club is an international service organization for high school students. As a student-led organization, Key Club’s goal is to encourage leadership through serving others.
Kids Read Service Project
Our Kiwanians and friends collect and purchase books that are donated to schools and organizations in our community.
Boys and Girls Home of NC
Our donations to the Boys and Girls Home of NC helps support the Kiwanis Cottage which was built on the campus in 1964. The cottage provides a residence for six young women and an environment that promotes health, healing and hope.
Kiwanis Children’s Fund and the Carolinas District Foundation
Each year our club makes donations to these two important Kiwanis Foundations. In this way we expand our reach to children beyond our area and throughout the world.
